Casady Families and Faculty,
The upcoming weeks of September 11th to 21st are a group of days known as the “11 Days of Global Unity” or “Peace Week at Casady School.” Each day has a theme that provides a path to Peace One Day. These days are of importance to the Casady and the Oklahoma City communities and to countries across the world- especially September 21. The 21st is the International Day of Peace created to “[commemorate] and [strengthen] the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples” (from the text of the U.N. Resolution).
The 2017 U.N. Peace Day Theme is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety, and Dignity for All”. The Together global campaign was created to promote dignity and safety for those forced to flee their homes due to difficult circumstances. It brings together 193 countries in support of that diversity and acceptance of migrants and refugees.
Each division will have an observance of Peace Day during chapel times on PEACE DAY, September 21, 2017: UD (8:00 am), MD (9:45 am), PD (10:30 am), and LD (2:45 pm). On PEACE DAY, Cyclones are also invited to wear a peace, spirit, or a volunteer t-shirt, as we will have a PEACE DAY out of Uniform.
The UD will have a PEACE DAY WALK. Walkers will meet at 7:00 am by the peace sign in front of chapel drawn by Mr. Mark Coate. A Kolache Breakfast will follow at the Casady Wing at 7:30 am. At the end of the school day on PEACE DAY, UD Pinwheels for Peace will be transported to the UN Observance of PEACE DAY, scheduled to start at 6:30 pm at our State Capitol Steps.
The Casady Upper Division service Club YAC has brought the “11 Days of Global Unity” campaign to our community and you can be a piece of the peace! YAC in collaboration with all divisions has organized chapel speakers and performances, informative videos, UD experiences connected to the theme of the day, pieces of peace art such as pinwheel making, music, “walking in someone else’s shoe art,” a water is life walk, and peace rhythm.
What will you do for PEACE? Whether it be giving a compliment or volunteering at your prefer non-profit, all of us can do something along with the millions across the world celebrating harmony.

Together we want to celebrate the 11 Days of Global Unity. It's time for us to realize that we are a part of all the suffering in the world — those who are hungry and starving, all those animals that face extinction. Then we begin to make the change from 'I' to 'WE'. It's WE — We, The World. It's us together. — Jane Goodall, Primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace
