FOREWORD FROM JEREMY GILLEY
Dear friends,
Today marks the 2-month countdown to Peace Day 21 September 2018.
The Peace One Day office is buzzing with excitement and the team are all incredibly busy trying to make Peace Day 2018 the strongest yet. We have been reaching out to our partners and in turn millions of people, encouraging them to acknowledge the day and promote peaceful action and non-violence across all corners of the globe.

We are humbled by the fact that organisations and individuals alike have voluntarily been reaching out to us to inform us of their Peace Day plans - demonstrating how far we have come in institutionalising this most important of days. With that, I would encourage you all to continue informing us of the commitments you are making to Peace Day and what you are organising to celebrate the day. Together we are stronger, let’s make Peace Day 2018 the biggest yet.

Aside from the important work we are doing in the build up to Peace Day, I am also thrilled to tell you all that we are working hard behind the scenes on an exciting new crowdfunding initiative, which I look forward to explaining further in the coming months!

In peace,

Jeremy Gilley
Founder, Peace One Day

GLOBAL YOUTH SPEAK FORUM

Jeremy was honoured to host and speak at AIESEC’s 2018 Global Youth Speak Forum in Hurgada, Egypt this month. AIESEC is a global youth-led organisation striving to achieve peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential. Together with partner organisations, AIESEC facilitates cross-cultural exchanges in the form of volunteering experiences and professional internships. Through learning of the Peace One Day journey, there were some inspiring conversations about how to empower a new generation of peacebuilders, around the world.

#GOAL17 - TWO MILLION PEOPLE!

We have exceeded all expectations in our promotion of the importance of Global Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. Initially, when we started the Partnerships for Peace Coalition, we wanted to highlight the importance of Goal 17 in raising awareness of Peace Day.

In the month of April 2018, a mere 100,000 people were exposed to #Goal17 on all social media channels around the world. Now, at the end of July, not only do we now have 62 members of our Partnerships for Peace Coalition, but the global monthly social media reach for #Goal17 has just surpassed TWO MILLION people. This is a remarkable achievement and could have only happened with the continued support and hard work of the Partnerships for Peace Coalition.

If you missed our short film about the Coalition last month, please check it out - Click here to see our film.

Please become part of this movement by using #peaceday and #goal17 to share your support with the world.

Please email our Coalition Lead if your organisation would like more information, or would like to join the Coalition - yvonne.mwiza@peaceoneday.org
