Images from Peace Day across the Great Lakes region of Africa

Dear Friend,

What a day it was! All over the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Great Lakes region of Africa, Peace Day was a huge success. Thousands of events were held and millions were made aware of the day across the region.

In all four corners of the globe, Peace Day was marked and celebrated in a way we’ve never seen before. More people than ever are now aware of the day – and more lives will be positively impacted as a consequence.

It’s thanks to your hard work and support that this happened.

From our Peace Day Celebration in Goma, attended by thousands, to visits to refugee camps, mass vaccinations, special prayer services, peace walks, workshops and football matches, there was just so much inspiring activity, involving all sectors of society.

We would be very grateful if you could send us your photos and video from your Peace Day activities so that we can help to tell your story of the day, and to inspire others to join this movement for peace in the future*. Please also send us any links to media coverage of your event, including social media, so that we can measure the impact of the day.

What a remarkable celebration of peace! We can all be proud of the achievements of last Sunday. And we can also use Sunday as a platform to build something even bigger – a lasting and sustainable peace wherever we are in the world.

Together, let’s make 21 September the blueprint for a better, more peaceful society. Let’s continue working as one and make 2015 an even bigger year for Peace Day right across the world. Together we can achieve so much!

Thanks again for all of your efforts.

In peace,

Jeremy
