SEPTEMBER 16: TEENS AND YOUTH

PREMIERE SCREENING OF KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS @ QUAIL SPRINGS sold 80 tickets.  The documentary had a great title, but the movie Pay it Forward continues to be the best resource to address the subject of kindness.

Secret Agent of Compassion
            Mission 006 - Sept 16, 2015

Good Morning Agents of / Ambassadors of COMPASSION!

At this point of the Compassion Games, I am hopeful that you are generating a steady stream of renewable compassionate energy. Assuming so, over the next several days I am going to have you direct this internal energy to a specific category of person in your life, starting today with someone you probably see regularly but don't really know.

Somewhere between friend and stranger are those people we call acquaintances. They might be friends of friends, or people who provide us a regular service (the postal carrier, the grocery clerk, the garbage collector), or even certain neighbors. We don't have a strong disliking or liking for them. We know of these people. We just don't KNOW them. Our relationship with them is "neutral."

Today's mission, should you choose to accept it, is to choose one of your acquaintances and, as an ambassador of compassion, promote care, concern, warmth, and love with this person in mind. Complete this mission as an acknowledgement of all the acquaintances you have, to recognize that they exist.

In performing this act, try to recognize that fundamentally our acquaintances want and deserve the same things we do, to be happy, to have good health, to be appreciated. In celebrating one acquaintance, you are celebrate all of your acquaintances. By celebrating all of our acquaintances, we celebrate everyone.

Remember, should your actions or those of any of the Ambassadors of Compassion be exposed, it will increase the positive ripple effect of creating a kinder world. As such, I again ask you to report your activities on the Compassion Report Map!

Good luck, agents.

(Okay, agents, to help children understand this mission have them create concentric circles of people they know on a piece of paper. Those in the inner circle are family members, the people closest to them. Those in the next circle are their friends. The next circle out are people they see regularly but don't really know, a category I'm calling "acquaintances." It is for these people that today's mission is directed. For children in school, it could be sitting next to an acquaintance at lunch or inviting an acquaintance to join a game at recess.)
