     Secret Agent of Compassion
            Mission 007 - Sept 17, 2015

Good Morning Ambassadors!

A traditional key turns two ways. Turn it one way and you lock people out, keeping them away. Turn the key the opposite way and you let people in. With your renewable source of compassionate energy now fully powering your internal power plant, today you're going to focus your energy on unlocking doors, those real and metaphorical in your lives, to allow people you don't know in.

Today's mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete an act of care, concern, warmth, or love for a stranger, someone you do not know on a personal level. Typically, these are the people you pass by or hear about as you go on with your day, random strangers your normally don't notice. Your compassionate act could be anonymously buying coffee for someone behind you in line at the coffee shop. Or it might be going to the library and putting up money for the next $10 worth of fines. These are great, but I'm encouraging you to do something more than acts of this sort.

Could you take time today to volunteer at a Food Bank or otherwise give time to those who aren't as fortunate as you? If you can't do that today, how about scheduling a time in the next two weeks when you can? The spirit of today's mission is you making an effort to engage in a larger compassionate act that will benefit someone you do not know.

Remember, should your actions or those of any of our crack team of secret agents be exposed, it will increase the positive ripple effect by creating more warmth in the world. Thus, we at IKT HQ request that you report your activities on the Compassion Report Map!

Good luck, ambassadors.

(For those of you working with children, you need to use your discretion with this mission. While it's possible to help them engage in completing an act of kindness for a stranger, it's important to help them understand good boundaries, too. If the stranger aspect of this mission is uncomfortable for you, I suggest you help children focus on extending another kind action for an acquaintance, perhaps expanding it to a child they don't know. This mission could also provide inspiration for a classroom teacher to set up some kind of group service project for the class.)
